Service Description

Objectives: 1. Demonstrate the knowledge and skills in the use of the different data gathering methods; 2. Develop and apply data gathering tools; 3. Design a conflict map research for a simulated environment; 4. Draft a conflict map report; and, 5. Be prepared to do actual groundwork to develop a quality and comprehensive conflict map report. MODULE 1: NVC & CONFLICT SCOPING EXPERIENCES MODULE 2: CONFLICT SCOPING PROCESS CONFLICT MAP DESIGNING DATA GATHERING METHODS CASE ANALYSIS CONFLICT MAP REPORT WRITING MODULE 3: DATA VALIDATION WORKSHOP MODULE 4: ACTION PLANNING The future mediators will learn how to design and conduct a conflict map research. The learning approach in Module 2 includes a combination of lecturettes and simulations essentially to teach them (i) how to frame and formulate questions, (ii) how to develop data gathering tools, (iii) how to administer data gathering activities, and (iv) how to conduct a validation workshop. After the data gathering simulations in Module 2, the learners will receive a training in data analysis thru lecturettes and workshop sessions in Module 3. Equipped with analytical thinking, the future mediators will then learn how to translate analyses into a written conflict map report. The expected outputs in this Module, which is primarily the conflict map report, will build from the homework outputs. Any data and information lacking from the conflict map report will be collected during the actual fieldwork which will commence after Course 2. Course 2 will result in the development of action plans of the future mediators. The said action plans will comprise of the details on how the learners will implement actual fieldwork in their respective communities. In addition, the trainees will clearly specify the objectives, targets, resources needed, and data gathering schedules in the action plans. This also means that the learners are expected to be ready to administer the data collection activity on the ground after Course 2.
