MedNet and Mabuwaya Foundation Sign MOU for Indigenous Peoples and Environmental Stewardship Project in Santa Ana, Cagayan

The Mediators Network for Sustainable Peace, Inc. (MedNet) and the Mabuwaya Foundation formally signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on June 22, 2026 at MedNet’s office in Katipunan, Quezon City for a collaborative initiative in Santa Ana, Cagayan focused on Indigenous Peoples and environmental stewardship.

Representing MedNet during the signing was Executive Director Jhon Robert Ko, while the Mabuwaya Foundation was represented by Executive Director Merlijn Van Weerd and Director of Operations Marites Balbas. The Mabuwaya Foundation delegation traveled from Cabagan, Isabela, where the organization is based.

The partnership aims to work with Indigenous communities in Santa Ana, Cagayan while promoting environmental stewardship and the protection of ancestral lands. Through the project, both organizations will collaborate with local stakeholders in implementing activities that support Indigenous Peoples and their communities.

MedNet brings its experience in peacebuilding, dialogue, and community engagement, while the Mabuwaya Foundation contributes its expertise in biodiversity conservation and community engagement in northern Luzon. By combining their strengths, the two organizations aim to support initiatives that address community and environmental concerns in the project area.

The partnership reflects MedNet and the Mabuwaya Foundation's shared commitment to working with Indigenous communities and local partners in promoting peace, environmental stewardship, and sustainable community development.

The signing of the MOU formalizes the partnership between MedNet and the Mabuwaya Foundation for the implementation of the project in Santa Ana, Cagayan.
